Application of Anti-Wrinkle Serums

Some tips for optimum efficacy:

  • Cleanse – gently cleanse skin to remove all impurities from the surface of the skin
  • Apply Chosen Serum – optimum method of application will vary for each product, depending on the overall formulation, therefore the most important thing to do is read the instructions! I use SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic daily, in the mornings and the instructions are to apply it to dry skin. Any water would dilute the serum and make it less effective. Equally important, when applying a serum containing a humectant like glycerin or hyaluronic acid, needs to be applied to damp skin for maximum absorption.
  • Apply Sparingly – less is definitely more, a pea sized amount is sufficient. Excessive application of potent ingredients can lead to irritation.
  • Moisturise – seal the serum using a moisturiser that hydrates and supports the skin barrier.
  • SPF – you must apply sunscreen to the skin daily as active ingredients increase sun sensitivity. Using sunscreen can prevent UV induced aging and damage.

Lifestyle Factors in addition to Anti-Wrinkle Serums

In addition to topical treatments, the following lifestyle factors can further enhance the overall effectiveness of topical treatments:

  • Diet – having a balanced diet, rich in antioxidants combats free radicals and support skin health.
  • Hydration – increase your water intake for skin elasticity and suppleness.
  • Exercise – facilitates circulation, which delivers nutrients to the skin.
  • Sleep – promotes skin regeneration and repair process.

Using a well formulated anti-wrinkle serum can have a significant impact on the appearance of your skin. By reading about the ingredients in your products and applying them correctly, you can combat the signs of skin aging. Additionally, skin routines must be consistent, furthermore, simple lifestyle adjustments can further help achieve your skincare goals.
